Amin Abdel-Kader is a group leader in our team and is responsible for some of the most outstanding and challenging projects. Which project would you most like to talk about? Please describe it in 3 short sentences! The residential building on Genochplatz in Vienna 22, Donaustadt. The building site is located on the site of the former Genoch market, with the neighbouring former "Tröpferlbad" on Genochplatz - an architectural monument of "Red Vienna". An 11-storey residential tower block with 131 residential units, commercial space on the ground floor and a two-storey underground car park for 67 cars is being built here. Coming from the Ostbahn subway, it is the first building that catches your eye on the right - a landmark at the crossroads of Kagran, Stadlau and Hirschstetten. What makes this project special for you? Yes, that's funny. I have very early memories of Genochplatz and especially of the market there. I went to kindergarten not far from the market... What was the biggest challenge with this building? The authorisation process. Genochplatz was not only a visible public place for local amenities above ground and a meeting point in the neighbourhood; over the course of history, a lot of infrastructure has also accumulated underground and around the square.
This meant that a wide range of concerns and interests had to be reconciled at this location and coordinated with all of the installation bodies, including the street lighting and the traffic management system, including the signalling system. Who was your most important contact for this project and how would you describe the collaboration? Now, during the realisation of the project, Gerd Hammerl, project manager on the client side, is my most important contact person. His experience, together with C&P's routine in realising large residential construction projects, is very valuable for the speedy and goal-oriented handling of the project.
