The elements of a comfortable sleeping environment
In addition to a good bed, a comfortable sleeping environment consists of privacy, peace and security for a pleasant and restful sleep. This includes the possibility of (complete) darkening, a (window) opening that lets in the morning light and good, natural ventilation. The "intimate realm" of a (married) couple differs from that of children, members of a shared flat or guests - in each case, the bed and its users shape the surrounding space.
"Bedrooms make no sense" *) - instead, various types of "alcoves", i.e. bed alcoves, make sense in terms of privacy and connection with the other living areas: in addition to (half-open) walls and slightly lower ceilings, bookshelves, dressing areas, storage for clothes or toys, etc. can be used to enclose or shield the beds and show the way to the parents, the bathroom and the toilet...
