The wages of construction workers

A construction worker's salary is paid by the company that employs them. The amount of pay depends on experience, training, location of employment, and many other factors such as allocations, allowances and separations. The basis of remuneration (minimum wage) is determined by the wage order based on collective agreements, which are renegotiated at least once a year between the construction industry and the trade unions. The cut-off date for increases is 1 May each year. These different categories for the level of remuneration (wage groups) can be viewed in the wage tables for construction workers, published by the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO). In addition to their monthly wages, construction workers also receive special payments, just like employees in the construction industry, namely a holiday and Christmas bonus (13th + 14th month). Furthermore, additional agreements with the employer are possible, which must be recorded in employment contracts for individual employees.
