As explained in detail in the previous chapters of this series, only those structural measures that are within the legal requirements and are brought to the attention of the authorities in accordance with the regulations are permitted. All remodelling work must also be planned and carried out in accordance with the applicable laws and guidelines. For example, questions of permissible building development and use in accordance with the zoning regulations as well as townscape and traffic concerns must be clarified. In the case of conversions, issues of stability, fire protection, safety of use and accessibility, sound insulation, hygiene, health, environmental protection and energy efficiency - i.e. the OIB guidelines - are particularly important. In the case of condominium properties, agreement must be reached with the co-owners for all changes that affect general parts of the building - including the windows, for example - taking private law into account. The neighbours only have a say if the volume is increased or noisy air conditioning systems are installed. So, if you want what you are allowed to do, nothing stands in the way of the fulfilment of your wishes.
