113 Architecture questions - What are the "Big Five for Life"?
What are the "Big Five for Life"?
In this novel-like book, John Strelecky asks himself about the purpose of a company's existence. Just as every person searches for meaning in their life, a company also has a purpose. However, this purpose of existence does not necessarily have to coincide with the purpose of the life of an applicant who wants to work in this company. As a person and an individual, you should therefore first ask yourself: What are the five things I want to achieve in my life? What are my Big Five for Life?
Ideally, I will find a company whose purpose of existence (PDE) matches as many of my Big Five for Life as possible, or makes it possible or easier for me to realise these five milestones.
Just as people have different needs, every company has a different CDE - so it is important to find the right company for me.
As an entrepreneur, it is up to me to adapt the CDE to my Big Five. I can influence the corporate culture, divide up my work and bring people together who share similar visions and values.
Such an alignment of life goals and company goals is an ideal state and probably cannot be achieved in its entirety. However, the greatest possible overlap leads to a high level of satisfaction in life - not to short-term happiness, but to lasting satisfaction.
John Strelecky recommends comprehensive critical self-reflection based on a figurative example: Imagine that after the end of your life, you take visitors through the museum of your life. The pictures in the museum show your life as it really was and not glossed over as you imagined it.
Can you look back with satisfaction?
Or do you need to change course?
